O'zapft is! White sausages, knuckles, chicken and a vegetarian ragout land one after the other at the tables. The mood is great and the second mass of non-alcoholic beer is on the table. The dilemma is, do you jump in the air now, or do you sit down. According to Oktoberfest laws, you can dance on the benches, but not on the tables and if you don't have a seat, you don't get anything to drink. But first, something to eat, which only partially worked, because the Oktoberfest band through the speakers demands "and I jump, jump, jump again and again" ... "A Gaudi muess sa. For the Oktoberfest the Onedot team dressed up in Bavarian costumes, Dirndl and Lederhosen, or proudly presented the Onedot T-Shirt singing. Two tables were taken by the Onedot group, jumping from one to the other and laughing their way through the evening. It's barely possible to converse, but the idea is to surrender to the music and awaken the singing talent in the crowd. The tent seems to be sold out. The rich decorations and the smell of Weisswürsten in the air transport you straight to Bavaria. Well done, Zurich.
A team event with invited guests took place last Thursday at Zurich main station. In the tent we were warmly welcomed and led to our tables. The nice gentleman, of course dressed in leather trousers in proper style, patiently accepted our order and returned quickly with Bavarian trademark. There was a mass of beer, a mass of cyclist and a mass of alcohol-free beer. The waiters carry a standard ten measures of beer, one or the other girl also had a beaten 12 measures in her hand, while some had great difficulty in lifting a full measure with one hand.
The atmosphere gets better and better, the music changes into party sound and you can literally feel the energy of the Züri tent. The band plays "Simply The Best" by Tina Turner, the crowd is almost impossible to keep up - yet it's only 7 p.m. and most Oktoberfest visitors are still chewing on their knuckles. We take to the benches, singing and swaying. The atmosphere is excellent, you suddenly have friends at all the tables and in different languages you cheers in the round.
Guys and girls walk around in Bavarian costumes, all in a good mood. The bow is knotted on the left if you are single, on the right if you are taken or even married, and in the middle if you want to signal that you are still a virgin. But you don't have much time to look around that closely, the band delivers one German hit after the next to the best: After "Komm, hol' das Lasso raus, wir spielen Cowboy und Indianer". The Oktoberfest guests in the Zurich tent were all pretty much text-fest.
A nice team evening with hearty culinary delights, background music to sway along and a mood that will make you want to get out of your lederhosen. Our guests and the whole team could spend a memorable evening. And because everyone enjoyed it so much, we were often able to sing together: "and I jump, jump, jump again and again..."
